Health & Safety Briefings
Health & Safety Legislation in Guernsey has evolved over the last century. In common with the United Kingdom the present legislative regime is very much “goal setting” with the main law and subsidiary Ordinance based on the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
Unlike the United Kingdom, Guernsey does not have a large number of legal draftsmen working solely on health and safety matters, similarly local industries do not involve themselves in some of the high risk activities seen in the UK.
These briefing notes are intended to assist you in managing the health and safety requirements of your business, they are largely based on UK health and safety guidance and therefore should be subject to local adaptation.
If you run a business or are self-employed, you should view these briefings to make sure you are protecting your employees. These briefings will also be useful for trade union and employee health and safety representatives.
